How to Make Text Size Larger on the iPhone

If you can’t read small text like you used to, don’t worry. You’re not alone. You also don’t need to struggle to read the small text on your iPhone. Here’s how you can make the text size larger.

The iPhone and iPad have a feature called Dynamic Type, which allows you to adjust the default text size in most apps. Not all apps support Dynamic Type, but most do.

How to Make Text Larger

To increase the text size, go to Settings -> Display & Brightness -> Text Size. Drag the slider at the bottom of the window to the right to increase the size.

If you still want a larger text size, go to Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Larger Text. Enable the option for Larger Accessibility Sizes and adjust the slider at the bottom of the window to reach the text size you want.

Increase Text Size on App-by-App Basis Using Control Center

If you add the Text Size control to Control Center, you have the option of changing text size for all apps or on an app-by-app basis.

Check to see if the Text Size control is included in your iPhone Control Center by going to Settings -> Control Center. If the control doesn’t appear under the Included Controls section, scroll down to the More Controls section and locate Text Size. Tap the green button with the plus sign to add it to the Control Center.

Once the size control has been added to the Control Center, it can be accessed at any time from either the Home Screen or within any app. The method to open the Control Center varies depending on which model iPhone you have. If your iPhone does not have a Home button, simply swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen. If you swipe too close to the top-center of your screen, you might open Notification Center instead of Control Center. If your iPhone has a Home button, open the Control Center by swiping up from the bottom edge of the screen.

With the Control Panel open, tap on the Text Size icon.

You can then quickly adjust the size of the text and choose whether the adjustment applies to the current app that is open or all apps.

When finished adjusting the size, close the Control Center by swiping up from the bottom of the screen, tapping a blank area on the screen, or pressing the Home button (depending on which model iPhone you have).
